Angelo Merendino is one of those lucky guys who on one fine day saw a girl and at that instant knew that she was the one. Even the way in which he confessed to her that he loved her seems to be straight out of some Mills & Boon novel. Angelo and Jennifer finally got married at Central Park, surrounded by their family and friends. However just after 5 months, their world was turned upside down when Jennifer was diagnosed with cancer. These are Angelo’s exact words about that moment.
“I remember the exact moment…Jen’s voice and the numb feeling that enveloped me. That feeling has never left. I’ll also never forget how we looked into each other’s eyes and held each other’s hands. “We are together, we’ll be ok.” ”
Throughout her battle with cancer, Angelo photographed Jennifer and every passing moment brought them even closer to each other. Angelo’s photographs of his wife humanize the face of cancer and they show the pain, difficulty, fear and all the troubles that Jennifer faced while battling the disease. Sadly Jennifer passed away in 2011 but Angelo made sure that after she died he would that he would help other women who were receiving treatment for breast cancer and started a non profit organization The Love You Share.
